On June 13, the Cleveland HRC Federal Club Council convened an update on the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundations’ Corporate Equality Index (CEI).  The event was attended by representatives of companies who participate in the CEI, HRC members, and members of the community. 

Inspired to come out of the closet following the 1978 assassination of his idol, Supervisor Harvey Milk, Jerry Mallicoat has been fighting for full LGBTQ+ rights in Ohio for decades.

Hundreds gathered on Friday for a celebration that has been decades in the making. As community leaders cut the rainbow ribbon at 6605 Detroit Avenue in Cleveland’s Detroit Shoreway neighborhood, the LGBT Center of Greater Cleveland officially moved out of its former basement home and welcomed the community into a stunning space where all welcome, supported, and celebrated.

With the start of June, Pride is most certainly in the air, and the city of Columbus kicked off the festivities in grand fashion on Monday night as Mayor Andrew Ginther and City Council President Shannon Harden awarded 2019’s Steve Shellabarger Illuminator Award to Andrew Levitt, also known as Nina West.

Opening eyes. Touching Hearts. Changing Minds. 

For any arts-based organization, those three actions would be powerful and aspirational. For Evolution Theatre Company, those goals are distinctly more de rigueur, serving instead as hallmarks of everything they set out to do.
