The Columbus Blue Jackets have never lost when the Columbus Gay Men’s Chorus sings the National Anthem for the crowd at Nationwide Arena.

OK, so it’s only been twice, but still, we see a pattern developing.

The chorus joined the Jackets’ regular anthem singer, Leo Welsh, on Saturday for the team’s second annual Hockey Is for Everyone Night, which welcomes LGBTQ fans and others who add diversity to the sport.

Players warmed up before the game against the San Jose Sharks with rainbow-taped sticks, which were later auctioned off to raise money for You Can Play, an international group that works to erase anti-LGBTQ language and biases from youth, college and professional sports.

The Jackets won, 4-0, to stay in the thick of the NHL playoff hunt. When they get there, they should think about bringing their good-luck charms back for s return engagement.
